Properties Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a white or yellowish powder that is odorless, tasteless and easy to flow. It is soluble in hot water and generally insoluble in most organic solvents. The viscosity changes little in the PH range of 2-12, but the viscosity decreases beyond this range. It can also be used as emulsion thickening agent in paint industry, humidity sensitive resistor in electronics industry, cement coagulant and moisture retaining agent in construction industry.
